"Summing up the formal characteristic of play we might call it a free activity standing quite consciously outside "ordinary" life as being “not serious”, but at the same time absorbing the player intensely and utterly. It is an activity connected with no material interest, and no profit can be gained by it. It proceeds within its own proper boundaries of time and space according to fixed rules and in an orderly manner. It promotes the formation of social groupings which tend to surround themselves with secrecy and to stress their difference from the common world by disguise or other means."

"homo ludens" johan huizinga

According to the text of Huizinga,"Play" is one of the most primitive elements in human culture. The essence of "Playing" is in every human activity like Law, Poet, Knowledge, War, and Art.

The core of the idea of “Play” is that they know it is not real, but they pretend as it is real.At here, I tried to connect this structure of “Play” and Space.

The virtual context of this area is here is the node or junction of 4 different areas. The color of the floor represents each area, and people in this area are belonging to one of the 4 areas. Each area are overlapping as like nesting box, but it never connect. If there is a gap by cutting by other area, people have to jump to another foot print.

According to this rule, the behavior and the activity of people are limited, and start to develop. In the same space, simultaneously there are 4 different spaces, and of course, it doesn’t make sense for people who don’t share the rule.

We can find the space truly consisted by the human activity.
